You love the phone. The app is not for me. It is slow because it takes a while for the device to load. After that, wait for the device to be detected. Then tap the one you are using and tap again to unlock the remote.
It’s just too slow. It is too slow to show a remote when you have it. A splash screen is too distracting for me. It works great once you’re on the screen that you want. My regular remote quit working as soon as this app was paired with my TV. This app makes the cursor move around on the screen and it doesn’t allow me to control the TV. Prime will pop up by itself and you can’t scroll down or choose “who’s viewing” from the screen. This app seems to be a virus. The app was uninstalled, but the remote remains disconnected.
It’s a great idea to create this app. It has great potential, but there is a lot to do. The buttons should be smaller in size or can be adjusted to change their placement. Ability to adjust volume is a must. It’s not possible for it to be ported over, which makes it a poor replacement. It works well for me. My Nvidia Shield connects to my router using an Ethernet cable. This is a better way to maintain stable connections. This setup means that the official Android TV remote app can only connect to my Shield via Bluetooth, which is annoying and drains my battery.
However, this app connects using the WiFi hotspot. My only request is for microphone support so that I can control my Shield with voice. Although the swipepad is difficult to use, it’s easy to add all of your app thumbnails. Apps reorder themselves to the most recent.
I don’t like the haptic feedback. The wand is no longer necessary for me. Suggestion: A row of icons could replace the dropdown menu to change modes.
This app is a good alternative to using a bluetooth keyboard and integrated touchpad. It would be nice to have the ability to check battery statuses of remote accessories. This can either be done on the app’s screen or via a hamburger menu.

I have a static IP on my Shield so I should be able set it in the app once and it will open every time. Android P has worked well so far on my Shield, however Nvidia can’t figure out remotes or controllers. The reliability of the Shield just keeps decreasing over time. You can take off two more stars.
It was so much simpler to use the old interface. The old interface was so much easier to use, and I could select shows that were actually on the screen. It’s now all about junk recommendations and cumbersome. We know that you moved all channels up to the top in order to show Google ads better. You can revert to services format. The ads won’t disappear, but we will find other ways to stop them. The app was flawless for me, contrary to other reviews.
Every time I need to use the shield, I must re-pair my phone. This means that every time I want to control my shield, pause or lower the volume of content, it stops.
I must re-enter the six digit code I used to pair the device. Bravo Nvidia. However, the app disconnects frequently with a pop-up message on a solid Wi Fi network. All software is up-to-date. Suggestion: It would be nice to have the ability to change the scaling method from within the app, rather than having to bring up the menu on my TV.
From Spectacular, to Sucktacular. The latest Shield TV update is an absolute disaster. The new look of the homepage and all the changes are horrible. Now the UI is less flexible, and to top it all, functionality is no longer reliable. My remote and device are not communicating correctly due to “improvements”. It’s imperative that bugs are fixed quickly, as the Shield TV experience has been so poor I wouldn’t recommend it. This app is now compatible with the Shield.
You might need to go through the pairing process again and again before it works. After you have been paired with BT, the app will allow you to connect to your Shield. The IP address from my Shield was sufficient to allow me to successfully connect. Although the app is great at controlling the Shield, it can’t control volume or wake the Shield up from sleep mode. This app is an acceptable second remote for your Shield. They are well-known for the quality of their graphics cards.
Their device is a complete failure. I was so disappointed. Apps sometimes get stuck. I thought at first that it was HBO Max or a specific set of apps. The list of applications that aren’t working was endless, I realized.
If the app becomes stuck and you want to switch it off, then disconnect your power cord. Although the latest app appears to work better than the previous ones no disconnecting , there’s no way to disable haptic feedback, which can make using it really annoying.
It vibrates twice every time, which I find confusing considering that I only touched one button. For a more positive rating, you can either correct the vibration or eliminate it.
