The graphics of Toy Story are mostly sprites which look deceptively 3D and, although now they may seem a bit on the squarish side, upon release, the game was praised for the quality of its visuals. The addition of voice overs in certain situations was a nice touch, but it can quickly become annoying to hear characters saying the same thing over and over again.
